BRITTANY, FRANCE

Friday, 6 May 2016

We've come to the end of three lovely days in sunny Brittany, currently on our last evening before packing up to head inland a bit towards the Loire Valley tomorrow. Steven is making spaghetti bolognese whilst I write this up.
We're staying at Camping La Pointe which is just near the little town of Châteaulin, very picturesque with a canal running through. It's surprising how quiet it is everywhere, I knew we were starting in low season but we've found that most shops and restaurants have been shut, but it does mean the campsites are lovely and quiet and there's no queues anywhere, yippeee!
We've had a few lazy mornings, I think I must be eating the equivalent of a loaf of bread a day - but I'm still on my first jar of Nutella so not all bad...
We took a drive out to Cap de la Chèvre on the sunniest day, it's right on the tip of Brittany and the sea was so blue...although I hear the weather back in blighty has been pretty good so at least these pictures won't make you all jealous...ha! Although I feel we'll be the jealous ones soon as the forecast for us isn't look so good!

On our drive back to the campsite we stopped off at a little town called Morgat for a wander around, some pizza and an ice-cream!

We're slowly getting there with our French, it's coming back to me from GCSE...kind of. We feel very proud of ourselves once we ask for something but then any time anyone says anything back we're like rabbits caught in headlights! Stupid English.

Today we went for a walk up Ménez-Hom which is part of the Black Mountains - it's only 330m but still has some pretty great views from the top. We've found that each car park we have come to is free, which I have to say we're super impressed with - in the UK there would definitely be a man with no top on and a high vis vest asking for £2 a car at the entrance, nice one France!

The final stop off before heading back for spaghetti bolognese was to Locronan which is super touristy but very quaint - the Tess of the d'Urbervilles was filmed there.

We decided to have our first crêpe of the trip which ended up turning into a nearly 3 hour long palava but it was super tasty!

So onto the next stop now, nearly a week in and going strong!
